Our Refugee Sponsorship Steering committee has been busy. A lease has been signed for a 2 bedroom apartment located in the Parliament and Bloor neighbourhood. It is being renovated now with an availability date of February 1st. It is in a good neighbourhood with great services, close to public transportation, and the building, inspected by members of the Steering Committee, is good, clean and well run.

With the availability being February 1, it will give our apartment set-up group time to organize the space before the family arrives. If you have furnishings that might be of use please contact Martha Hackney now or Anne Gannon after March 1. They are compiling a list of available items and determining whether these items are needed. Also, if you can help on moving day by providing human-power or a truck please let either Martha or Anne know.

The timing of the arrival of our family has not been determined. We are waiting to hear whom we have been matched with. We are expecting to hear something in the next few weeks and when we do it will take several weeks after that until they arrive. So if we are lucky, we will be welcoming a family by the end of February or in March.

We still need financial contributions. If you wish to make a donation you can mark "Refugee Sponsorship" in the "other" category in your weekly offering or send a cheque to the office putting "refugee sponsorship" in the memo line.
