Glenview and the Syrian Refugee Crisis

Glenview and the Syrian Refugee Crisis

There are now more than four million registered Syrian refugees, and many more that are not registered - over half of these children are children. The photo of a three-year old boy washed up on a beach awakened the world to the plight of these refugees.

How can Glenview as a community of faith respond to this world crisis? Session and many people have expressed an interest in pursuing the possibility of sponsoring a Syrian refugee.

Sponsoring a refugee family is a serious long-term commitment and requires a dedicated committee to work out the details, others willing to do volunteer tasks, and those willing to provide the financial resources needed to settle a family in Toronto.

Please contact the office if you are interested in joining a committee, wish to volunteer or can contribute financially to this cause.

An information meeting about what Glenview can do with help from Presbyterian World Service and Development is being held on October 28th.

Out of the Cold returns

Once again, Glenview will open its doors to welcome those in our city in need of a warm place to gather and experience community and a warm meal. The Out of the Cold program returns starting November 1st.

Volunteers are needed to set up, serve and clean the church hall after the dinner.

We are also looking for financial donations to help finance our program. Please mark any church offerings to help Out of the Cold.

For more information, contact Bill or Ruth McDonald (416) 223-9361

Welcome Back Sunday Photos

We've posted a gallery of photos from our welcome back Sunday service on our Facebook community page.

We kicked off another church year with a welcome back Sunday celebration. It started with another great jazz service, and ended with a congregational lunch (and some great balloon animals for the kids). Posted by Glenview Presbyterian Church on Sunday, September 13, 2015
