There will be a service to celebrate the life of the Rev. Rodger Hunter at Glenview on Saturday, June 10, at 11:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome.

Rodger's association with Glenview ran long and deep. His death came as a great shock to many people. For the last years of his life he served Glenview as Pastoral Visitor. Roger's great passion was the mission he founded, Boarding Homes Ministries. Rodger and the teams of visitors he recruited from churches in and around Toronto, brought companionship and joy to many people who live in boarding homes. Though they have many neighbours, boarding homes residents still lead solitary lives.

Rodger loved good food and music (especially jazz and classic rock) and he loved to share both with his friends. Rodger did not want a funeral for himself. His family and so many friends want to celebrate his life and, with his daughter Cristina, we are planning a service that will be as un-funeral-like as possible. The usual reception in the Church Hall will follow. To honour Rodger we will then light the barbecues and share in one of his favourite meals.

Rodger did not enjoy being photographed. We have proof that he approved of this image, from 2008.
